After annihilating Riverside-Brookfield in a dual meet 119-51 earlier in the week, the OPRF girls swim team took first at RB’s invitational on Saturday.
Allana Dassoff and Mary Clare Stannard led the Huskies to victory at the invite. Dassoff won the 100-yard freestyle (53.99 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.14). Stannard took first in the 500 free (5:24.57) and the 200 free (2:01.25). Along with Maggie Lomasney and Emma Connell, Dassoff and Stannard also took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:44.59.
The Huskies garnered a first place score of 341.5, while Lake Park finished a distant second with 262.5.
OPRF boys cross-country
The Huskies finished 22nd out of the 60 teams that competed in the Richard Spring Invitational in Peoria on Saturday. Tim Howell led OPRF with a 111th-place finish in 15:51.
OPRF boys golf
Pat Murphy carded a 78 and the Huskies finished with a total score of 331 to win the St. Rita Southside Shootout. Marist finished with second with a 343, while Illiana Christian rounded out third with a 346.
The Blazers finished third in the 16-team Maine East Demon Invitational last weekend. Trinity went 4-1 in the tournament behind Ashley Klauss’s 46 kills, 41 digs and seven aces. Mikayla Leyden also made a statement by contributing 29 kills from the outside, 97 digs and five aces. Middle hitter Shannon McGinnis had a strong all around showing with 19 kills, 20 blocks, 30 digs, while middle Jacque Kibir Evans also dominated defensively at the net with 22 blocks.
Earlier in the week, the Blazers battled St. Ignatius but came up a bit short, falling to the Wolfpack 23-25, 24-26.
Klauss finished with six kills and 13 digs, while Leyden added five kills and 31 digs. Junior setter Madi Creaden tallied 19 assists to go along with nine digs. McGinnis, Kibir-Evans and Maggie O’Connor contributed three kills apiece.
Trinity began the week by dominating Regina 25-12, 25-12. Klauss and Leyden combined for eight kills and 13 digs in the win.
Fenwick shut out Oswego 1-0 on Saturday behind a lone goal by Jack Alberts. Jacob Peterson recorded his second shutout on the season.
Also last week, the Friars edged Niles West 3-2 on a game-winning goal by Peterson. Alberts and Cole Hayden also scored for Fenwick, with assists provided by Francisco Moreno and Mike Nowicki.
