Koji D. Roberts and Kephren M. Ferguson

Two Chicago men who police determined were responsible for several burglaries to cars in River Forest were arrested July 10 and each charged with one count of burglary, a Class 2 felony, according to a statement Friday from River Forest police.

After a brief foot chase, officers apprehended Koji D. Roberts, of the 5000 block of West Monroe Street, and Kephren M. Ferguson, of the 5300 block of West Henderson Street, in a yard in the 900 block of Clinton Place around 11:50 p.m. on July 10. Police had responded to the 800 block of William Street to investigate a report of a suspicious person in the area.

Roberts and Ferguson were taken to the police station, and a canvass of the area revealed a vehicle had been burglarized. In the 900 block of Clinton Place police found a brown leather wallet containing personal information of a River Forest whose vehicle had been burglarized. That resident lived in the 800 block of William Street. An Illinois state identification card that belonged to Roberts was also located in the area.

Roberts and Ferguson had been responsible for several other vehicle burglaries in the area within the previous week, the statement said.

On July 12, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges. The men appeared for a bond hearing July 13, but the amount was not immediately available.
