Oak Park and River Forest High School’s administrative ranks will look different entering the upcoming school year with several new hires finalized this summer.
The most notable change is the elevation of Tina Halliman, OPRF’s special education director, to an assistant superintendent post. Hired as special ed director two years ago, Halliman becomes OPRF’s assistant superintendent for pupil personnel services. Along with the special education department, Halliman will oversee the school’s Health Services Department. The high school last month hired Laura Faber as its new special ed division director, at a salary of $110,000. She previous worked at Wheeling High School as special education coordinator. Faber previously worked as a special education case manager at Tilden High School in Chicago and Township High School District 214 in Arlington Heights.
Prior to joining OPRF in 2010, Halliman, who has a doctorate in education administration, was director of pupil personnel services at District 130 in Blue Island, a northeastern Cook County community.
OPRF has also hired a new assistant principal for student services. Jennifer Hoffman will take over for Jeremiah Wiencek, who was hired in 2010 and resigned in April of this year to head the counseling department at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn. Hoffman, who will earn a salary of $120,000, served in the same position at Plainfield South High School. She was a counselor at Plainfield Central High School and before that a math teacher.
