Two men rob victim at gunpoint

A man in the first block of South Boulevard early the morning of June 26 was approached from behind by an unknown man armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The man pointed the gun at the victim and said, “give me everything you’ve got, empty your pockets” and the victim complied.

The offender and a second man took about $50 from the victim’s wallet and a laptop computer. The offenders were last seen on foot eastbound toward Austin Boulevard. Estimated loss is $1,050.

Criminal damage to property

An unknown person broke an exterior light fixture in the 400 block of North Marion Street between the night of June 21 and early morning of June 22. Estimated damage is $500.

A 22-year-old Oak Park man was arrested for damaging the windshield of a vehicle by breaking it with a landscaping brick. Police said the victim and offender in the June 12 incident in the 1100 block of Washington Boulevard knew each other.

Someone damaged a vehicle in the rear of the 800 block of North Austin Boulevard between the afternoons of June 26 and 27 by scratching the paint. Estimated damage is $500.

An unknown person used a pry-type tool to damage the rear door of a residence in the 1100 block of South Lyman Avenue the morning of June 26. Estimated damage is $250.

Burglary

Someone entered a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Harrison Street between the night of June 21 and morning of June 22 and removed a leather wallet containing identification, two rolls of coins and $40 in cash. Estimated damage and loss is $320.

An unknown person entered a garage in the 1100 block of South Elmwood Avenue between the night of June 23 and morning of June 24 and removed an electronic synthesizer, patch and power cords, foot pedals, a zip drive and disk, a men’s Crossroads bicycle, a boy’s Murray bicycle, a Razor scooter, two canvas bags and a Martin guitar. Estimated loss is $2,480.

Someone entered a garage in the 600 block of Lyman Avenue the night of June 24 and removed a Fuji Crosstown bicycle with a child’s seat. Estimated loss is $350.

An unknown person entered an apartment in the first block of Chicago Avenue between the afternoon and night of June 26 and removed an Acer laptop computer, a Sony LED television, a Sony digital camera, a Nintendo DS gaming unit, miscellaneous games, a topaz ring, a backpack, a container of quarters and a knife. Estimated loss is $2,110.

Someone entered a residence in the 1100 block of South Ridgeland Avenue the early morning of June 27 and removed a jewelry box containing miscellaneous jewelry. Estimated loss is $700.

Robbery

A juvenile from Chicago was arrested in the 200 block of North Austin Boulevard early on June 23 for being one of five teenagers who punched a man in the face and took his cell phone on Austin near the CTA Green Line.

An unknown man distracted an employee at Family Cleaners in the 200 block of Lake Street the afternoon of June 27 and a second offender crossed over the counter. The first man reached into the cash drawer and removed about $100. Both men then fled the scene north on Lombard Avenue and entered a gold car that drove away in an unknown direction. Estimated loss is $100.

Aggravated assault

An unknown man displayed a semi-automatic handgun after a verbal altercation with another man at an IHOP restaurant in the 6500 block of North Avenue the morning of June 23. The man left the scene in a purple Jeep Cherokee that fled south on Elmwood Avenue.

Theft

Someone removed the spare tire from a Ford Explorer parked in the rear of the 1000 block of Washington Boulevard between the afternoon of June 17 and night of June 22. Estimated loss is $275.

An unknown person removed the front driver’s side wheel and a hubcap from a 2007 Pontiac G6 parked in a village lot in the 200 block of North Austin Boulevard between the night of June 25 and morning of June 26. Estimated loss is $200.

Someone removed a black and green Mongoose bicycle from the rear of a building in the first block of Ontario Street the afternoon of June 26. The offender rode away northbound in the alley from the scene. Estimated loss is $200.

Driving under the influence/drug possession

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested in the early morning of June 27 in the 1200 block of South Elgin Avenue in Forest Park after police detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and he failed field sobriety tests. A search revealed he had 1.2 grams of marijuana and an open bottle of alcohol. His blood alcohol level was 0.141.

These items, obtained from the Oak Park police department, took place June 23-29, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
