OPRF girls water polo finished third at its own invitational on Saturday. The Huskies finished with a 2-1 record, falling to Metea Valley 7-4, but picking up wins over Lincoln Way North, 6-5, and Schaumburg, 7-6 in overtime.
Katie Appell led OPRF past Schaumburg with five goals to help the Huskies claim third place.
Led by Appell’s four goals and three steals, OPRF also edged Maine South 8-7 last week. Others who scored goals in that win included Hannah Legatzke, Kjerstin Anderson, Elizabeth Williams and Samantha Robbins. Zoe Erickson finished with eight saves.
The Huskies began last week with a 3-2 win over Whitney Young. Anderson, Legatzke and Rebecca Robinson scored, while Appell pocketed two steals and Erickson tallied 12 saves.
