The District 200 school board will hold a special meeting Wednesday to address the recent reduction in force, or RIF, of teachers at Oak Park and River Forest High School.
OPRF and other school districts in the area and state routinely dismiss some of their part-time and non-tenured teachers as part of their class scheduling for the next school year. Some teachers are hired back after they receive a RIF notice, while others are not.
After OPRF teachers were dismissed by the board on March 22, some students protested by setting up a Facebook page, website and Twitter account.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s board room, where the board will make a motion to go into closed session to discuss “the appointment, employment and/or dismissal of personnel,” the agenda says. At 7:30 p.m., the public is invited to the Little Theatre to make comments and hear background information about the issue.
