Gary D. Gibson, 32, of Madison, formerly of Northern Door County, Wis., died on Feb. 15, 2012 at Clark Lake following a battle with cancer. Born on Jan. 4, 1980 in Oak Park to Lisa Gibson, he graduated from Gibraltar High School in Fish Creek. He worked as a software engineer at the Wisconsin Supreme Court where he had been employed for the past four years and loved his job. He had recently completed his degree work and graduated from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with honors, receiving a B.S. in Information Science and Technology on Dec. 18, 2011.

Mr. Gibson loved playing soccer and was involved in many intramural soccer teams within the Madison area. He enjoyed riding his bike to work, and in the summer months loved spending time on the lake and sailing. He was an excellent cook, loved to travel and was a huge Badger football fan. Described as intelligent, funny, and kindhearted, he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Gary Gibson is survived by his wife, Emily; his mother, Lisa Gibson; his maternal grandmother, Kaye Gibson; his mother-in-law, Katie (Bill) Heba; his brothers-in-law, John (Holly) Hein, Todd Hebal, and Jason (Christa) Hebal. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James R. Gibson, and his father in-law, Thomas J. Hein.

A memorial celebration was held on Feb. 25, 2012 at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison. Memorials may be given to the Gary Gibson Memorial Fund at the Door County Community Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 802, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Huehns Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
