Members of the OPRF girls soccer teams will soon begin preparing 13 statues of Huskies for a fundraiser that will benefit all levels of the soccer program.

The Huskies, 3-foot by 4-foot in size and made of medium density fibreboard set on a base, are being decorated by members of the OPRF soccer program.

The Huskies, similar to the pigs (2006) and carousel horses (2007) that have been on display in front of businesses in the village in previous years, will make their debut at the annual soccer social to be held at Molly Malone’s on March 16. The Huskies will be delivered to businesses by March 19 and will be “on parade” at the OPRF varsity girls home game against Trinity on April 27.

Local businesses receiving Huskies will include House of Heat, Weichert Realtors-Nickel Group, Suburban Auto, Potbelly, Volvo of Oak Park, Oak Park Jewelers, Circle Bowl, Forest Park National Bank, Greenline Wheels, Marion Street Cheese, Shirtworks, Book Table and Kinderhook.
