When I paid the annual cost of parking at the Holley Court Garage in December, I was shocked that the cost is now $900 per year.

We are not allowed to park on the street for free as they do in the city. We are forced to occupy the expensive and apparently poorly built garage.

If the average cost of a pint of blood is $100, I calculate that to be 9 pints this year.

It is not sufficient that I pay rather spectacular property taxes to a local government that seems to care a good deal less than the federal government whether I had a good year in my business or not.

I have lived in Oak Park more than 30 years, and I have never seen the government do any better than stumble along.

Now we are to have an inappropriate 20-story building two blocks from the showcase Frank Lloyd Wright homes.
