Three students were arrested Dec. 6 outside of Oak Park and River Forest High School, including one who had recently been suspended from the school and turned up at dismissal time and allegedly started a fight. Also arrested were two current students who were part of a large crowd surrounding the fight.
Justin Stanciel-Wynn had allegedly taken a book bag off the shoulder of an 18-year-old man who was walking in the 400 block of South Oak Park Avenue around 2:50 p.m., police said. He appeared on school grounds around 3:10 p.m. and allegedly started a fight with another student with whom he had “bad blood,” said Oak Park Police Detective Sergeant Michael Richardson. He was suspended for a fight earlier this month with the same student, Richardson said.
When police arrived at the school around 3:30 p.m., they saw a large group of teens standing in the middle of the street impeding traffic, said Police Commander LaDon Reynolds.
Most students followed police orders to disperse, but one 17-year-old student told an officer to “get the f—k on,” refused to show his ID and tried to walk away. Reynolds said he aggressively refused to be escorted into a squad car, but was taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer and disobeying a police directive.
Another 17-year-old was heard shouting to the crowd, “Oak Park police are on bulls—t, let’s f—k them up,” before he was arrested and charged for disorderly conduct, Reynolds said.
Stanciel-Wynn was charged with criminal trespassing and criminal damage to state supported land—for headbutting a window in a dean’s office after his arrest—and theft from a person, both felonies. He is being held at Cook County Jail.
Three other students were briefly detained and released, said school spokeswoman Kay Foran.
