A bunch of ‘Dudes’ at Oak Park and River Forest High School are getting together for a good cause.

Six years ago, a group of OPRF male students started an in-school organization, Dudes Making a Difference, to raise funds for school children in Nepal. Their poinsettia sale has continued since the fall of 2005 and will take place again this holiday season. The dudes sell large and small plants in red, pink or white. They’re also selling wreaths this time around. The original dudes, then a group of freshmen, have since graduated but their service group lives on through current students. The money raised helps pay food, clothes and textbooks for 11 Nepalese kids.

Contact them at dudesmakingadifference@gmail.com for more information and to place an order. Plants are available for pickup on Saturday, Dec. 11, and Sunday, Dec. 12, at one of the dude’s homes.
