The Village of Oak Park is easing parking restrictions around town for the holidays, starting with Thanksgiving on Thursday.

Oak Park is lifting its overnight parking ban at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, and won’t resume enforcing the ban until Monday, Nov. 28. However, motorists should still follow the rules in permit areas, such as village-owned lots and on-street overnight parking zones, according to a village email release.

In addition, Oak Park is offering free parking in public garages for holiday shoppers every Saturday starting Nov. 26. Locations include the Holley Court garage (1125 Ontario), Avenue garage (720 North Blvd.) and Lake and Forest garage (938 Lake St.). The village will resume charging on Saturdays at the three structures on Dec. 31.
