The OPRF girls tennis team finished tied for 20th at the IHSA State Meet last weekend.

Taylor Arends garnered four points for the Huskies by winning in the first two rounds.

Arends battled Zhavia Gray of Illiana Christian to a three-set 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory in the second round, before falling 6-2, 7-5 to Carol Finke of New Trier.

The doubles team of Emma Forman and Tess Trinka also won their first two matches. The duo defeated Fenwick’s Julia Mastrangeli and Natalie Greico 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 in the first round.

“The point totals and our potential to finish higher were hurt by the cancellation of the back draw due to weather delays,” said OPRF head coach Fred Galluzzo. “Nevertheless, we did quite well given our placement in the singles and doubles draws.”
