After hearing from Chicago Westsiders about pending “conceal and carry” legislation concerning firearms in the state assembly, state Rep. LaShawn Ford now wants to hear from Oak Parkers.
On Wednesday, Ford hosts his second public forum to gauge constituents’ views on whether Illinois should allow citizens to carry guns. An earlier, heavily attended public forum took place in August in the Austin community. Constituents there were mostly in favor of citizens carrying guns.
Ford, who represents Austin, Oak Park and surrounding western suburbs, says he wants to hear from the public before making his decision. Wednesday’s forum takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison. For more information, call Ford’s office: 773-378-5902.
