With school back in session, Cluster Tutoring is in need of additional volunteers to tutor students from Chicago’s Austin community on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings, 6:30 to 8 p.m. At this time, we have more than 25 students on our waiting list. The age range for waiting students is from kindergarten through high school, with most in elementary school.
Cluster Tutoring has been providing free one-on-one tutoring for students from the Austin community for over 20 years. Many of our tutors have been involved with Cluster for several years and find they get as much out of the program as the students. The atmosphere is supportive, friendly and relaxed.
The commitment involves one 90-minute session each week during the school year through mid-May. Volunteers can choose to come either on Tuesdays to the Pine Avenue Church (5460 W. Augusta in Chicago) or on Thursdays to the First United Church of Oak Park (848 Lake St.). Currently, we have a greater need at the Pine Avenue location.
