River Forest police officers will be mobilized at Dominican University Thursday for an all-day rapid deployment training exercise that will likely bring a great deal of activity to the quiet campus.
The police will perform an exercise simulating an active shooter in Parmer Hall. Officers and police cruisers will be present on the campus throughout the day.
Parmer Hall and the Dominican campus are no strangers to these kinds of drills. In 2009 a massive disaster exercise took place on the campus simulating a chemical spill, active shooter and a bomb inside of a parked car. Emergency workers from 15 municipalities participated, along with Cook County law enforcement teams, disaster response and public health workers, state police and emergency management crews, and federal disaster management officials.
