Emily Propoggio, 72, died at her home in Creal Springs, Illinois on July 10, 2011 where she had resided for 17 years. Previously, she had lived in Oak Park for 36 years. Mrs. Propoggio was born on Dec. 17, 1938 in Chicago to the late John and Emily Szalek. She graduated from Maria High School in Chicago, and attended the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy. She was a former member of the Oak Park Fencing Club, and her favorite hobbies were Charles Wysocki jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and books. Emily Propoggio is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert Propoggio; children, Leslie (Jeff), Perry, Ronald, Lisa (Mark), Lynn (Terry), Amelia (Mike), and Megan (Shaun); son-in-law, John (Jennifer) Miller; and 25 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lauren Miller; and her sister, Christine Clesceri.

For Mrs. Propoggio the most important parts of her life, first and foremost, were her husband, her children and their spouses, and her grandchildren. Her family was what mattered most. Visitation was held on July 13, 2011 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park. Interment was private.
