The District 200 school board is now seeking applicants to find a replacement.

Jacques Conway resigned at the end of the board’s May 26 meeting, citing time constraints with a new job and a personal financial matter as reasons for stepping down.

Conway called for former member John Allen to replace him. The school on Tuesday announced it is opening the process and seeking applicants. According to the state’s school code, an appointment must be made within 45 days. But it doesn’t specify what the process for selecting a replacement should be.

Board members have scheduled the replacement selection to take place during a special meeting on June 18. Deliberations will take place in closed session. According to the school, a decision will be announced and a vote on the new member will take place at the board’s regular meeting on June 23. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Letters of interest from eligible residents should be submitted by Wed. June 15 to the board clerk. Qualifications: any registered voter/qualified elector, 18 or over, and a resident of Oak Park or River Forest. The board requests that the letter of interest include a paragraph about the candidate’s reasons for wanting to serve, and any information they would like the board to consider in deliberations for this position
