The OPRF tennis team matched its third place finish at state from the year before on Saturday by overcoming inclement weather and receiving a boost from its doubles teams.

The Huskies finished third with 35 points, a point behind Deerfield and three points ahead of Stevenson. New Trier won the state meet with a final score of 55.

OPRF had two doubles teams finish in the top six. Devin Jones and Luke Trinka finished fourth after falling to Tyler Manci and Zach Brint of Highland Park 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the third place match. Jones and Trinka went 5-2 in the tournament.

Eric Bruynseels and Tim McAdam battled their way through the consolation bracket to finish sixth in doubles. The duo fell to New Trier’s Nate and Rob Jacobson 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the fifth place match.

Jake Wilson, who finished fifth at state last year in doubles with Alex Gebert, went 5-2 in singles action. Wilson won his first three matches before battling Jared Hiltzik of New Trier in a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 loss.
