Two weeks ago, the High School Action Committee (a parent committee addressing the startling IYS statistics at Oak Park and River Forest High School relating to drug and alcohol use) emailed the board of education an informative questionnaire and asked members to respond to and provide insight on how they plan to address the drug and alcohol problem amongst its students, as well as its safety and security issues. In recent discussions with the board, the action committee has concluded that the questionnaire is best used as a framework to help the board members formulate their responses to these difficult problems. As partners working together, we believe we can greatly reduce substance use amongst students, while also positively affecting the learning environment at OPRF.
