I fully support Ray Johnson’s election to a third term on the village board. In his eight years of service, he has proven himself committed to constituent services, community outreach, thoughtful leadership and fiscal discipline. I have watched him grow into the role of trustee, and lead on a number of initiatives.
Most notably, as a Barrie Park neighbor, I know Ray worked diligently with others to create the loan and grant program that helped our neighborhood recover from the remediation project. His diligence and work behind the scenes helped to move the Barrie Park reinvestment program forward, and it helped spur rebuilding of our neighborhood and allowed those most affected by the remediation to do important repairs on their homes.
When Ray launched his block walks to stay in touch with Oak Parker’s outside of an election cycle, his first stops were in southeast and southwest Oak Park, as well as walking Roosevelt Road from Austin to Harlem with other board members, seeking input from citizens and stakeholders on ways the village could better serve these areas. He then expanded and continued this practice to the rest of Oak Park as another means to get direct input and feedback from constituents.
Ray is a dedicated public servant who approaches every meeting fully prepared to engage in discussion and make the right decision on behalf of all Oak Parkers. His continued service on the board will serve us all well.
