Nikita Bondarenko made quite a name for himself at the Fenwick Swimming and Diving Sectional on Saturday.

The OPRF sophomore won both the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.60) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.09) and qualified for the IHSA State Meet to be held at New Trier this weekend. Joining Bondarenko at state will be Kyle Patnode, Luke O’Connell and Ben Lewis, as well as OPRF’s 200-yard medley relay team.

Patnode finished second in the 100-backstroke with a time of 53.46 seconds. The sophomore also finished third in the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.41). O’Connell took second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.21. Lewis won the diving event with a final score of 382.15.

Patnode, O’Connell, John Verticchio and Armando Lee finished second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.86.

As a team, the Huskies finished second at the sectional with 240 points.
