Former OPRF softball player Alex Morocco has been selected a national finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes notable achievements in community, classroom, character and competition.

Morocco, a 2007 graduate of OPRF, plays softball for DePaul University. She had five hits in five games in a recent tournament in Miami.

An All-Big East First Team selection last season, Morocco has also done volunteer work the last four years with Make Strides Against Breast Cancer and has also worked as a Misericordia Heart of Mercy fundraiser and hospital volunteer.

Morocco, a psychology major with a 3.65 grade-point average, is among 30 finalists for the prestigious award. A committee will cut the number to 10 in late March and the award winner will be selected in early June at the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
