The blizzard earlier this month in the Chicago area caused schools in Oak Park to close for two days, an extremely rare occurance in this village. One of the results for Oak Park Elementary School District 97 is having to move its eighth-grade graduation to Monday June 6–the last day of school is June 7. Graduation was originally scheduled to take place June 2, but was moved back to pick up the two lost snow days. Kevin Anderson, Dist. 97 assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, said graduation normally takes place before the last day of school in June.

Two separate ceremonies for each school’s graduating class takes place at Oak Park and River Forest High School, in the auditorium.
