If exposure the books and stories is the gateway to a literacy addiction, the three villages have a tempting array of story times to spark this desire. There is at least one story time every day of the week.  Some are geared to infants or primary age children, but most are open to anyone. Here’s a sample line-up for just the next few days:

Monday to Friday          Various times          Oak Park Library and its two branches

Monday, 02-07-11                  9:30 am           Marion Street Cheese Market

10:30 am           Forest Park Public Library

Tuesday, 02-08-11               10:00 am           Mother Goose Stories at the River Forest                                                                             Library

Wednesday, 2-09-11              1:30 PM          Preschool Stories at the Forest Park Library

Friday, 02-12-11                     1:00 PM          The Magic Tree Bookstore

There’s no excuse for sitting at home and being bored when these free story times are looking for patrons. Not only will this alleviate cabin fever, it will also help raise your child’s vocabulary, improve his or her ability to follow a story line and increase his or her understanding of the spoken word.
