The OPRF boys swim team made its first competitive splash this season in its own pool on Friday, and the finished product was a 120-65 victory over Downers Grove North.

The Huskies, who were forced to compete at other sites for much of the season due to a permit snafu for work that was done on the pool over the summer, kicked off the meet by taking first in the 200 medley relay. Kyle Patnode, Luke O’Connell, John Verticchio and Armando Lee finished in 1:41.69. Verticchio also won the 100 butterfly (57.78 seconds) and O’Connell the 100 breaststroke (1:03.12).

Nikita Bondarenko took first in both the 200 freestyle (1:51.15) and the 100 backstroke (59.07 seconds). Ben Lewis won the diving event with a final score of 223.10.

On Saturday, the Huskies finished third with a score of 259 at the Lyons Township Invitational. Patnode won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:01.81, and Lewis took first in diving with a 391.95.
