One of Oak Park’s hospitals plans to keep a close watch on the massive snowstorm but is not anticipating increased visits to the emergency room due to snow-related injuries.
With the snowstorm beginning to bury the Chicago area in a flurry of flakes, Tuesday afternoon and into mid-day Wednesday, West Suburban Hospital staff are on the ready to treat anyone in need. But the north Oak Park facility’s emergency room expects to run as normal, said a hospital spokesperson. By a 2:45 Tuesday afternoon, it was still too early expect snow-related injuries, since the worst of the storm was still to come, explained Olga Solares, a director of marketing and public relations for West Sub. A call to Rush Oak Park Hospital was not immediately returned. But Solares said area hospital personnel would normally be on call at such a time.
“As for staff positioning, we’re gearing up and making sure we have all staff in place, and making sure they’re here to help patients,” she said.
Solares added that West Sub does not typically experience higher traffic to its emergency room during snowstorms.
