Classic Cinemas, which owns both the Lake Theatre in Oak Park and the North Riverside Mall Theatre, is canceling any shows that start after 8 p.m. Tuesday night. The theater company expects to keep regular business hours on Wednesday.
The West Cook YMCA is closing Tuesday at 4 p.m. for the “safety” of its members, guests and staff, according to an e-mail. All Tuesday and Wednesday morning classes are being canceled, though staffers will stay in the building until all Y kids are picked up. The Y expects to remain closed until at least noon on Wednesday.
The Park District of Oak Park has canceled all programs scheduled to begin at or after 3 p.m. Tuesday, with the exception of the Park Kids Afterschool program. All Park District programs for Wednesday have been canceled.
The River Forest Park District has canceled all programs until noon on Thursday. The park district offices will also be closed on Wednesday.
The River Forest Public Library will close at 3 p.m. Tuesday and will stay closed on Wednesday. They plan to reopen on Thursday at 9 a.m.
Oak Park and River Forest High School announced Tuesday that all after-school and evening events, meetings, activities and practices today have been canceled. Students should leave and head home after school lets out at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday night’s OPRF varsity boys basketball game against Ridgewood has been rescheduled for Saturday at OPRF at 7:30 p.m. The freshmen and sophomore games have been tentatively scheduled for Monday, Feb. 7. All before-school activities on Wednesday have also been cancelled.
Fenwick High School is closing early Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. Both girls basketball games against Marian Catholic are canceled. The games have been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 11.
Trinity High School is closing early Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and will be closed Wednesday. All after-school and evening activities will be canceled for both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ascension School announced that it will be closed Wednesday.
St. Luke School’s after-school confirmation retreat scheduled for tuesday is canceled. School will be closed on Wednesday.
St. Catherine of Sienna/St. Lucy School in Oak Park will be open Tuesday, but closed Wednesday.
St. Giles School will remain open Tuesday, but announced that school will be closed Wednesday.
Dominican University announced that classes starting after 3 p.m. are canceled Tuesday. The campus will be closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. To find out more about Dominican’s closing procedures, visit www.dom.edu/alert.

Hephzibah announced that its after-school activities have been canceled Tuesday. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to make arrangements to have their child picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.
The Academy of Movement and Music pre-school will remain open Tuesday, but dance classes are cancelled for this evening. As of now, pre-school is canceled for Wednesday. Parents can check the academy’s website, www.academyofmovementandmusic.com, for further updates.
