It might seem like you just got done paying your last property tax bill, but the next one is on its way.
Cook County just started mailing property tax bills for the first installment of 2010 taxes, paid in 2011. Bills came late last year — due Dec. 13, the latest due date ever — and as such, the county is giving taxpayers an extra month to pony up, with payment due April 1.
The bill will reflect 55 percent of 2010 property taxes, according to Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar. Homeowner, senior citizen or other exemptions will not be reflected until the second tax bill, which is expected to be mailed in the fall.
