Cathy Daly
Cathy Daly was hired one year ago. Almost immediately upon her arrival, a veteran orthopedic physician, wrote a letter to the CEO stating that she was the best hire at West Suburban in recent history. Other orthopedic physicians also called Administration to praise her work.
Cathy initiated classes for patients who are scheduled for joint replacement surgery, often meeting one on one with them when class time does not work. She follows the patient from admission to discharge and has caught many clinical issues before they became problems, has stayed late into the night with patients who were alone, frightened or when Cathy felt the patient needed closer monitoring than was possible.
Colleen Hammell
Colleen once told her supervisor that she feels that the greatest thing a parent can teach a child is compassion for others. That is how Colleen lives her life, how she treats her fellow co-workers, and without a doubt how she approaches patient care. When approached about an interaction with a patient that is particularly warm-hearted, Colleen says she can always do better. When her supervisor rounds on the patients, Colleen’s patients are eager to share how much they adore her and how much better they are getting with her. Her co-workers seek her out because of her never-ending supply of helpfulness, kindness, and sharp problem-solving.
