This week we welcome a new reporter to our staff while shipping a former reporter half-way across the newsroom to take up new duties as editor of two of our city weeklies.
Ben Meyerson has covered River Forest and cops for the Journal for the past year. He led our coverage of drug sales issues in the villages last fall and became an expert at transcribing the bickering at River Forest village board meetings.
As of a month ago, though, Ben is editor and reporter for Chicago Journal and Skyline, our two weeklies serving the South Loop, West Loop and Gold Coast/Lincoln Park neighborhoods.
New in the newsroom is Megan Dooley. She comes to us from the Vineyard Gazette on, yes, the lovely Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. There Megan covered a range of beats from town government to schools to business.
A recent transplant to Chicago, Megan made a brief stop as a copywriter for Groupon before returning to community journalism.
She will cover River Forest, cops and parks for Wednesday Journal.
