The Fenwick swim team opened its season by edging cross-town rival OPRF 120-79 on Tuesday night.

The Friars picked up seven first-place finishes in the meet, including all three relays. Eric Bell, Bryce Peters, Ryan Greenway and Connor Brown won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.19. Greenway, Brown, White and Viken Huening took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:30.77. The 400-yard relay made up of Bell, Brown, White and Greenway took first in 3:25.86.

Brown also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.32 seconds, while Peters also took first in the 100-yard butterfly (57.92 seconds).

“This was a great season opener against our cross-town rivals,” said Fenwick head coach Luke McGuire. “There were some great swims by both teams.”

OPRF’s Kyle Patnode and Nikita Bondarenko each scored victories in two events.  Patnode won both the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.36) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.69). Bondarenko took first in both the 200-yard free (1:49.59) and the 500-yard free (5:08.25). 

Ben Lewis led the Huskies in diving, taking first with a final score of 226.85.
