The return of Oak Park native and OPRF High School graduate Iman Shumpert (2007) to the Chicago area last week was a bitter-sweet affair.
Shumpert and his Georgia Tech basketball team fell to Northwestern 91-71 in Evanston. The junior starting guard for the Yellow Jackets scored 11 points but was 5-for-14 from the field, including 1-for-5 from three-point range.
Shumpert, a First-team All-state player while a Huskie, helped lead the Yellow Jackets into the second round of last year’s NCAA Tournament where they lost to Ohio State, led then by Evan Turner, who, as a youth, briefly lived in Oak Park.
