The Dominican University men’s soccer team lost to Calvin College in the first round of the NCAA Division III championships after a 3-1 shootout on Saturday.

Dominican’s Mike Kapusta took advantage of a restart opportunity in the 46th minute to notch his team-leading 15th goal of the season.

The Stars held their one-goal lead into the 77th minute when Calvin’s Miles Colago netted the equalizer with a header off of a long throw-in by Mike Sanderson.

The 1-1 score held up through two overtime periods, sending the game to the shootout. Dominican finished the season with a 19-1-2 overall record.
