How come the Lake Theater can’t find room to play movies like the John Lennon biopic “Nowhere Boy”, Woody Allen’s latest “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger”, the educational documentary “Waiting For Superman” or any of the Steig Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy (e.g. “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest”)?
Surely, there are enough people who are serious about film in Oak Park and the near western suburbs to support a two-week run in that small theater to the left of the big popcorn stand. The alternate venues are in Lincoln Park or Highland Park. I can’t believe that “Megamind” in its 5th week would outdraw these movies.
The Lake is underestimating the intelligence and sophistication of its potential audience.
