A ritzy eyewear boutique will soon be joining the bustling business stretch near Oak Park Avenue and Lake Street.
Regional chain retailer Spex is opening its 15th location, which will debut in Oak Park sometime in January, according to Marketing Director Marilyn Frank. The store will take the place of still-operating JJ Koolhaus, 120 N. Oak Park Ave.
Frank said they decided to venture into Oak Park because they’ve received requests for a location here, and they don’t have anything right nearby.
“Oak Park just has the right feel for what we do, and even just in conversations with customers, people are pretty excited that we’re opening a location there,” she said.
Spex offers “well-crafted” eyewear from brands such as Prada, Ray Ban and Chanel. They also have an optometrist on hand at every location.
“These guys are the real deal and will certainly fit nicely into the district,” said David King, the commercial leasing agent who helped Spex find its space.
