OPRF volleyball

The Huskies won the Class 4A Young Regional championship by edging the host 21-25, 25-22, 25-21 on Saturday.

OPRF was to take on Lyons Township on Nov. 2 (after deadline) in the semifinals of the Lyons Township Sectional. A win over Lyons would pit the Huskies against either St. Ignatius or De La Salle in the sectional title game on Nov. 4.

In the first round of the regional, the Huskies downed Hyde Park 25-5, 25-7.

Fenwick volleyball

The Friars finished the season with a hard-fought 22-25, 27-25, 23-25 loss to De La Salle in the De La Salle Regional championship on Saturday.

Kelly Brennan and Sarah Hunt led Fenwick (14-14) with eight kills apiece. Brennan, who has verbally committed to Tufts University, also finished with 15 digs, while Rachel Best had six blocks.

In the first round, the Friars dismantled DeSable 25-3, 25-4. Brennan had six kills, while Emily Marzo added four. Maggie Reilly dished out 12 assists.

OPRF swimming

The Huskies finished fourth (173 points) at the West Suburban (Silver) Conference Meet on Saturday.

Miranda Tranmer finished seventh in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.96.

Hinsdale Central won the meet with 303 points, while Lyons took second with 275.
