One goal by Morton’s Joel Salermon with 15 minutes left in the first half ended up closing out the OPRF soccer team’s season as the Huskies fell 1-0 to the second-ranked Mustangs in the semifinal of the Class 3A Argo Sectional on Tuesday.

Both teams battled through yesterday’s gusty winds.

“The wind was a major factor and [we] battled well against it all half,” said OPRF head coach Paul Wright. “The second half we had several key chances but nothing could materalize.”

The Huskies, who were ranked as high as ninth in the state by both major daily papers this season, finish with a 15-5-3 overall record.

Look for the team’s season recap in the Nov. 3 issue of the Wednesday Journal.
