If you would like some support in not voting this Tuesday I would urge you to read my column “Don’t Vote” in today’s Journal. However, in the interest of full disclosure, I was talking about the election at a party Saturday night with my young friend Sally Ziegler. Sally is a teacher in Berwyn, and she went on about how Bill Brady will gut education in Illinois. So in order to get Sally off my not voting case, and to trick into thinking I’m not so terribly cynical, I told her I would vote only for that hack Pat Quinn.

I did this once before when I voted for Carol Mosley Braun solely to show my lady friends that I wasn’t a chauvinist pig. I hope my vote for Quinn turns out better. We shall see.
