I am writing this letter to express frustration and disgust with the negative campaigning being done by one of the candidates in the 9th District Cook County Commissioner’s race. I have been bombarded with robo calls and mail making false and unsubstantiated claims against Peter Silvestri by one of his opponents operating under the guise of a so-called “independent” group. The fact is that, to date, Peter Silvestri has been endorsed by the Independent Voters of Illinois (IVI-IPO), the Chicago Tribune, Pioneer Press, and the police and firefighters’ unions, to name a few. I can only hope that the voters of Oak Park do their homework and support the candidate who has worked diligently to represent our community’s views and interests well.
