The OPRF soccer team lost a nail-biter to fifth-ranked Downers Grove North on Tuesday. The 10th-ranked Huskies fell 3-2 on penalty kicks in the West Suburban (Silver) Conference showdown.

Elias El Mentanni and Thomas Lamm both scored goals for OPRF (11-3-1, 3-1), while Chris Ingvladson thwarted 16 shots in goal.

The Huskies had three shots bounce off Downers North’s goalpost in the second half, and missed two open netters.

The team travels to top-ranked Lyons Township (12-1-2) on Thursday and hosts third-ranked Morton on Friday (4:30 p.m.). 

Fenwick soccer

The Fenwick soccer team fell to St. Ignatius 1-0, dropping to 8-8-1 overall and 2-3 in the Catholic League.

Fenwick volleyball

The Friars battled Nazareth to a 25-21, 22-25, 25-19 victory.

Sarah Hunt led Fenwick with 12 kills, while Kelly Brennan added eight and Rachel Best seven. Jenna Vondrasek dished out 23 assists.

OPRF volleyball

The Huskies lost to York 11-25, 9-25.

OPRF boys golf

Led by Joe McKune’s 77 and Alex Decorrevont’s 78, the Huskies finished third at the St. Ignatius Regional held at Pine Meadows. Other OPRF scores included Dan Wojtak (84), Eric Cybulski (85), Peter Hayes (86) and Connor Toye (88). The team advances to the Mt. Carmel Sectional to be held on Monday.

Fenwick boys golf

The Friars finished second at the St. Ignatius Regional. Jack Sloan shot a 78, while Vince Mohawk posted a 79 for the Friars.
