Parent group APPLE (African American Parents for Purposeful Leadership in Education) hosted its first meeting of the school year Tuesday night at Oak Park and River Forest High School. Invited guests included Supt. Steven Isoye and other school administrators. Close to 75 people attended for an early dinner and the meeting, taking place in the school’s second floor faculty dinning room. The administrators introduced themselves to parents, talked a little about their backgrounds and what their job entails. School officials who spoke included Isoye; special ed director Tina Halliman; and Lauren Smith, the HR director. Speakers also included Oak Park Police Chief Rick Tanksley, educators and business owners from the Oak Park area.
