Steven Isoye, superintendent of Oak Park and River Forest High School, was honored last week in Washington D.C., as Illinois’ Principal of the Year.

Isoye received the recognition in March by the Horace Mann and Illinois Principals Association while serving as principal of Maine East High School in Park Ridge and before becoming OPRF’s superintendent.

The award includes a trip to the nation’s capital. Via an email from Washington D.C. to OPRF on Friday, Isoye said, “I am honored to be in Washington D.C. with all of the state principals of the year. This is a great opportunity to share and learn about the many exemplary practices happening across our country. Yesterday was an opportunity for all of us to meet with our legislators and discuss the current issues we are faced with in education.”

Isoye was hired at OPRF in April and officially started on July 1.
