I’ve written a column for The Wednesday Journal for about 14 years, but this will be my first efforts at blogging. If it goes well I might try texting or even using my phone as a camera! It’s a new world. Every day I walk the line between skepticism (my default setting) and cynicism.
I have interests and opinions on lots of things, but since I’m wrong about half the time, I’m pretty open-minded. Here are a few things I’m thinking about: Is VMA good for Oak Park? Does anyone really think there will ever be a hotel built in Oak Park? Why do people get cited for not having house numbers on their garage, yet two blocks down there is a house that looks like it was in Dresden after the bombing? Why do we have so many stores that sell decorative debris, but no place where I can buy a white shirt or pitching wedge? What really happened with the Colt Building? Is significantly closing educational gaps really possible?
I’m looking forward to sorting out all this with you. There are so many smart people here in Oak Park. This should be a piece of cake.
