A service outage earlier Wednesday has apparently affected thousands of Comcast customers in Oak Park and the surrounding community.

A Comcast spokeswoman could not provide information immediately. But according to village spokesman David Powers, more than 20,000 Comcast users have had their services interrupted Wednesday.

Apparently a major “node” at Comcast’s facility in Elmhurst was knocked out, causing the disruption. Powers did not have information as to what caused the outage, but said Comcast has pledged to restore all services by 8 p.m. Wednesday.
