Sept. 11 marked the start of the 15th annual Arts on Harrison. And while it started under rainy skies, the event turned sunny as did moods across the Oak Park Arts District. The occasion was punctuated with live music, a scavenger hunt for children, a mobile fashion show and exhibits at local art galleries.
Organizers punched up the event card for Arts on Harrison this year, adding a food vendor and increasing the quotient of bands performing. Olya Dailey – co-owner of Eastgate Café on Harrison and an event organizer – felt that the changes added a more vibrant feel to the event.
“For the first time after so long, the street was really alive; it was very festive,” said Dailey, who with her husband has owned an apartment building on Harrison for over a decade.
The event also featured dancers from both Longfellow School and a Serbian church in Bellwood called “Oplenac,” pictured above.
