Beth Luther of the Oak Park Gymnastics Center has qualified to compete in the 2010 USA Gymnastics National Talent Opportunity Program (TOP) to be held October 1-3 in Huntsville, Texas.
TOP is designed to find potentially talented athletes as well as educate gymnasts ages 7-11 and their coaches. On July 31, Luther competed in Rockford at the TOP state test where she competed against other gymnasts from Illinois in her age group. Only the gymnasts who score in the top 10 percent of the nation are invited to compete at the national level.
At nationals, the gymnasts will be re-evaluated on their strength, flexibility and gymnastics skills. Those who pass this round of competition are invited to attend a training camp at the National Team Training Center in Texas, better known as “Karolyi Ranch.”
