I wholeheartedly agree with Bill McDonald’s letter in which he points out that the cute little “bump outs” along Jackson Boulevard force a bike rider to ride in the traffic lane [Had enough of good-for-nothing bump outs, Viewpoints, Sept. 1]. When I saw these being installed several years ago, I could not believe the insensitivity to bike riders. The “bump outs” cause the same problem on Harrison Street in the Arts District. The village claims to be promoting a “bike friendly” environment. I don’t call that a friendly gesture!
