A jogger escaped a man who hugged her and then exposed himself the night of Tuesday, Sept. 7 in north Oak Park.

The incident, which police are calling criminal sexual abuse, happened around 8 p.m. on the 800 block of N. Ridgeland.

According to police reports, the man approached the woman from behind, grabbed her in a bear hug and exposed himself. The woman was able to break free and notified police with the help of a passing driver.

Police described the suspect as a white man in his mid-20s, roughly 6-feet, 2-inches tall and about 220 lbs. He had short, thick, light brown hair, was clean-shaven, and was wearing a black tank top with black, knee-length running shorts.

Oak Park police Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds said police are investigating the case, which they’re calling criminal sexual abuse.

“In order to catch this guy, it’s going to take collaborative effort from citizens and good police work,” Reynolds said.
