Just eight days before the start of school, River Forest’s Public School board voted to hire a new first grade teacher to ease its burgeoning enrollment.

Willard School’s first grade enrollment was right up against District 90’s class size limitation of 22, with 66 total students in three different classrooms.

With a few more students in the process of registering for first grade, the district moved to create a new section, and make a last-minute hire.

There won’t be an entirely new interview process, though. Superintendent Thomas Hagerman said the district will draw from a pool of applicants that applied for the district’s 18 other openings this summer.
